Families as Partners

The family perspective in the healthcare setting is very important to patient safety and quality improvement. Families can serve as advisors on committees and focus groups. They can share their experiences with doctors and nurses in training, give presentations from the family point of view, review educational materials or policies and more. The benefits of including families as partners in decision making is huge.

Families as Partners

The benefits of including families as partners are many.  Families bring a fresh perspective to the table and creative, new ideas. Some ideas have helped save money, and many have increased family satisfaction. Families also benefit because they have the chance to give back and to affect meaningful change.   Families also have the chance to learn new skills along the way.
